I like speed. Mountains. Powder. Dogs. Memes. Dad jokes. Chocolate. Glaciers. Photography. Skydiving. Caves. Nerding out. Exploring.

I grew up in Sunnmøre with alpine skis strapped to my feet, but when I moved to Oslo, I had to learn the mysterious art of cross-country skiing. I’ve always been fascinated by long expeditions and everything that comes with them, but as a slightly restless “adrenaline junkie”, I wasn’t sure if I’d have the patience for skiing. Could someone like me – used to speed and constant action – really enjoy something that seemed so… boring?

But then there was no turning back. Over the past few years, I’ve spent most of my winter holidays out with my sledge and skis. As my knowledge and experience grew, so did the length of my trips.
My first proper long expedition was crossing Greenland. When I finally reached the East Coast, my very first thought was a bit anticlimactic: “Huh? Was that all..?”

I’d simply had too good a time out there. Far better than I’d ever expected.

Since then, I’ve skied to the South Pole (via the Messner route), trekked there and back through the Northwest Passage, and crossed Jostedalsbreen, Hardangervidda, and the vast Finnmarksvidda several times. Ahead of me, I dream of more – and bigger – adventures in the Arctic. Some of them will no doubt be a real test, both physically and mentally.
